About Timber Smith

Timber A. Smith is the Special Assistant to the Mayor for Community, Culture, and Belonging with the City of Appleton. In this role, he works closely with residents and city departments to build bridges across the community and strengthen a genuine sense of belonging throughout the Fox Cities. Timber holds both a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. His professional background spans more than a decade in education and student support roles at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, Fox Valley Technical College, and the Appleton Area School District, where he served as a Veterans Resource Coordinator, Admissions Counselor, and Senior Equity Coordinator. A veteran of the United States Army Reserve, Timber's work is deeply rooted in service and community connection. He is also the producer and host of the Appleton Engaged Podcast and THE KOSH Podcast, where he highlights local stories, resources, and conversations that bring people together. Timber is actively involved in community leadership, serving on the boards of the African American Chamber of Commerce of Northeast Wisconsin and the Building for Kids Children's Museum. He also serves as Vice President of the Sigma Upsilon Lambda Alumni Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Through his work, Timber continues to foster dialogue, connection, and belonging across the Fox Valley community.
